PRO SECTION (FIDE Rated) GM Norms possible

(Rating of 2000 FIDE, CFC/ FQE/ USCF  Required)

U2200: 1st $500 2nd $300

 

AMATEUR SECTIONS --- U2000, U1700, U1400 &UNR

Trophies, $200 Bursaries to top 2 finishers in each section.

Top Unrated $200

 

Club Prize: $600.  4 player teams from same club, max 2 players in same section, multiple teams per club permissible.  Contestants must play within 200 points of their peak rating and are not eligible for the family prize.  Teams are subject to approval by organizer.

Family Prize: $600. Top 2 scores, any sections, immediate family only (spouse, sibling, parent/grandparent/child), contestants must play within 200 points of their peak rating and are not eligible for club prize.

Bursaries, family prize and club prize shall be 50% cash and 50% CMA gift certificates. 
CMA sales table on site throughout
tournament.

Eligibility:  Players in Amateur Sections may play up one section only, based on current rating.  FQE/ USCF  Ratings taken at par.

                                    Pro Section will use current FIDE ratings.

 

Rounds:                   7:00 PM Friday, and 11:00 am & 5:00 pm daily Saturday to Monday.

                                   

Time Control:           Game/90 with 30 sec increment per move

Registration:            On site 5:30pm-6:30pm sharp Friday August 1 (only players registering before 6:30pm are guaranteed to be paired in round 1.) Email registrants must check in by 6:00.  Make Cheques payable to “Barry Thorvardson” and  send to  Barry Thorvardson, 3 Peel Avenue, Brampton, Ontario L6W1X1

EMAIL REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED until 11pm Thursday, July 31. 

 

Entry Fee:                PRO SECTION (Requires CFC or FIDE Rating of 2000+ or equivalent)
                                    $150 paid by July 1, $170 paid by July 30, $190 cash only at the site
 

AMATEUR SECTION

$80  paid by July 1, $95 paid by July 30, $110 cash only at the site

(Juniors/Seniors over 55/Women receive $10 discount)

 

Other Information:    Snacks &refreshments, Chess Sets and Clocks will be provided.
 

Byes:                          Maximum 3 – ˝ point byes available in rounds 1-8  if requested in advance

(All travel fees are paid to CFC for their re-imbursement to the Canadian Champions above or their respective substitutes if they do not attend.. Prizes based on minimum 60 entrees)

Tournament Director:  Mark S. Dutton, International Arbiter 

Qualification:  Canadian CFC or FIDE players rated 2200+ at time of entry, 3 Champions  (U2200) designated by each Province, and up to 6 OCA designated players. We reserve the right to limit participation. Enter Early! 

Format: 9 Round Swiss. 1 Game per day, starting Friday, August 19th, with rest day,  Friday, 26 August.
                Playoffs on Monday August 29th  if required. 
 

Times:  6PM weekdays and 1PM weekends  

Time Control: Fide Time Controls: G/120 with 30 a second Fischer increment. 

Rated: Both CFC and FIDE     Equipment: Provided by OCA   

Location: GTA, Ontario. at Tartu College, 310 Bloor Street West

(Enjoy downtown Toronto with over 50 restaurants within a five minute walk) 

Complimentary Awards Banquet at 7:30 PM Sunday, August 28th.
