| Final standings:
Artem Samsonkin 4 1/2 - 1/2 In the final round, Samsonkin was in trouble to what seemed a winning attack by Divljan but escaped with a draw when the latter had almost no time on his clock and had to settle for the split point. Local players will get many chances to compete against this powerful young master as he plans to be very active in coming events. He will be conducting a free seminar on coaching techniques this Saturday at 5 pm following the regular blitz tournament. He will also be in Wednesday's 15 minute Blitz tournament starting at 7pm. More details later today. |

| This one day event runs in two
weeks (May 13) and in order to qualify for the Early Bird draw, your entry
must be received by next Saturday, May 5 - so those entering by mail, now
is the time to mail a cheque. Mail payable to Vlad Dobrich, 1681 Bayview
Ave, Suite 202, Toronto M4G 3C1. You can also register with Visa or Master
Card but there is a processing fee of $3 which goes to the Strategy Games
Shop/Chess&Math. An even better way to register is to come to our Saturday Blitz tournament at 1:30. The event seems to be making a comeback after a slow winter. Some players may have stayed away during a legal battle with the new owner of the building. He tried every bullying intimidation tactic to empty the building of the current tennants. He failed in our case thanks to the masterful legal representation by our resident chess-player/lawyer John Chidley-Hill who plays in almost every Saturday Blitz. Well done, John! |
