2007 Toronto Senior Chess Championship

There are eight senior chess players are going to play "2007 Toronto Senior Chess Championship" . The event will be one round per week from Oct 16, 2007 to Nov 27, 2007 at  Willowdale Chess Club.

    Ruperto Frilles won today tie-break match with Mickey Stein - 2:0 after both players finished Toronto Senior Championship with 6 points after 7 rounds.

Ruperto Frilles won yesterday tie-break match with Mickey Stein - 2:0 after both players finished Toronto Senior Championship with 6 points after 7
rounds. It was active chess match with 20'+10"/move time control.

Postponed game from round 6 Ben Hosiosky - Oswald Barmasch as well was played yesterday, and Ben won to clinch his third prize with 5.5 points.

So, Toronto Senior Championship was finished today - please find completed crosstable here.

Congratulations to Ruperto Frilles, our new Toronto Senior Chess Champion, and other prize winners.

The 2007 Totonto Senior Chess Champion will be captured on next Tuesday

We still have 1 postponed game left between Ben Hosiosky and Oswald Barmasch on Dec 4th, 2007. Other games finished and the crosstable is on the GTCL website.However, Ruperto, Frilles(2133) and Mickey, Stein(1961) both have 6 score. Between them we will have a tie-break match on next Tuesday at Willowdale Chess Club to decide who is the Toronto Senior Chess Champion 2007.

A Gtcl Event

The TORONTO SENIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2006
October 17 to December 19

This will be an eight player round-robin tournament comprising of the eight highest rated players born in 1956 or earlier who apply.

The deadline for entries will be 9pm Tuesday, October 10 at the Willowdale Chess Club where the draw for position will take place.

A reserve section will be available after the top section is filled. 

Schedule: Games will be played on consecutive Tuesdays at 7pm at the Willowdale Chess Club

(Earl Bales Community Centre at the Earl Bales Park near Bathurst and Sheppard intersection)

The event will be CFC rated, and the rating fees will be paid by the GTCL.

CFC membership is required. 

Time control: 90 minutes for the game.

ENTRY FEE: $20, For players born in 1946 or earlier - $15, For players born in 1936 or earlier - $10.

PRIZES: Chess books for top 3 finishers & Trophy for the winner.

Chess sets and boards are provided by the Willowdale Chess Club.

Please bring your chess clock.
