Four new generation Toronto chess players have been playing double round robin for the title of 2007 Toronto Junior Chess Champion since Sep 16. 16 years old boy,Zhou,Haonan and 13 years old girl, Orlova Yelizaveta have already won their age category champion of 2007 Canada Youth Champiosnships respectively in July in Ottawa this year. Both of them will represent Canada to participate WYCC in Turkey in November 2007.

Sapozhnikov, Roman is the highest rating player in this tournament, either Fide 2150 or CFC rating 2207. He reached his National Master level in March this year. In 2007 Ottawa CYCC, he was tied for 3rd place in U14 boy section.

Yuan,Yuanling is 13-year-old chess girl, has ranked in top Canadian Chess Women. She wasn't playing CYCC this year, however, as a junior high student, she won the title of 2007 Ontario High School Chess Champion by five undefeated games playing with high schools boys. Her current fide rating is 2082 and CFC rating is 2146.

The tournament has had 4 rounds on going so far, the players' scores are:
Sapozhnikov, Roman 2.5/3
Zhou,Haonan 2.5/4
Yuan,Yuanling 2/3
Orlova,Yelizaveta 0/4

On this Saturday, it has one game that Sapozhnikov will play with Yuan. And ,there will be two games on Sunday which are Zhou vs Yuan and Sapozhnikov vs Orlova.

To see who will win the title of 2007 Toronto Junior Chess Champion, please check the news on GTCL website.

Yuan, Yuanling won the Toronto Junior Chess Champion 2007 today

Today’s game in Bayview Game Chess Club would create a new Toronto Junior Chess Champion 2007. Since Zhou, Haonan, the U16B Champion of 2007 CYCC finished all rounds games and got 3.5/6, the title of the 2007 TJCC would not below Zhou. It would be from the winner of today’s game between a 13 years old girl, Yuan, Yuanling and 13 years old Canadian Chess Master, Sapozhnikov, Roman.

Sapozhnikov only need draw this game against Yuan and would get most of chance to win the title, because he left only one game playing with Orlova,Yelizaveta who was the lowest rating in this tournament. However, Yuan, Yuanling defeated him in around 27 moves and won the 2007 Toronto Junior Champion.

Sapozhnikov would be listed 2nd place if he would win Orlova,Yelizaveta who had gone to play WYCC in
Turkey these days. If Sapozhnikov would draw with Orlova, he would get score 3.5 and share 2nd place with Zhou. Whatever the result of the last game between Sapozhnikov and Orlova, it would not affect Yuan,Yuanling taking this title.

2007 Champion of TJCC was the 3rd title Yuan,Yuanling won this year after she moved to Toronto in April, 2007. She also held 2007 TSSCL Individual Champion and 2007 Ontario High School Chess Champion. Yuanling is the first girl has these three chess titles in Canada Chess history which is used to take by boys. Also this tournament would bring her be listed in Canada Chess Master level.
