The Entry fee IS high, but it's helping to paying for the prizes, there's obviously less sponsors than usual for a tournament this size.
The Prize structure doesn't have anything wrong with it... watering down the prizes by creating 3rd, 4th,5th, etc class prizes is silly and defeats the obvious purpose of providing an incentive to travel to the tournament in the hopes of recouping costs, for those outside the Toronto Area. If I'm paying 175-200 dollars to play, I expect to be playing for a prize at least double what I've paid.
I think that the prize structure may have been different if the entry fee had been lower, and presumably the cost structure and funding for staging the tournament in the first place.
No reason to complain.
