THE BAYVIEW GAMES CLUB PRESENTS:

THANKSGIVING OPEN

This is a GTC L Grand Prix 2007 event Oct 6 - 8, 2007

*****A SIX ROUND SWISS TOURNAMENT *****

TIME CONTROL: Game/120

ROUNDS: 11 AM & 4 PM daily

ENTRY FEE: $76 ($55 for prize fund + $21 administration fee).

BGC will pay $21 administration fee for all its members. Late fee on day of tournament $10 extra.

Entry payments can be made by phone using VISA or MASTERCARD

CFC RATED: CFC membership or $10 tournament fee required.

PRIZES: based on entries ($55 from every entry, 5% to go to GTCL Grand Prix fund),

class prizes awarded according to turnout in rating groups.

Early Bird Door Prizes. Enter by Sept 29 and your name will be entered into a draw for a full entry fee rebate ($55).

This will be awarded in cash at the end of the tournament.

One or more of these prizes will be awarded and may be won in addition to any other prize you may have won.

Chess Cooperation

It is great that the tournament was able to go ahead despite the difficulties Bayview Games Club faced with its landlord at 1681 Bayview. It looks like BGC, GTCL and CMA worked together to get the tournament the 1650 Bayview site. It has its drawbacks ( small & hot ), but at least the tournament was not cancelled. Congratulations to all who made it happen. Bob

2007 Thanksgiving Chess Tournament Started today, Oct 6th, 2007

GM Bator Sambuev(2515),IM Artem Samsonkin(2443), 2007 Canadian Chess Champion Nikolai Noritsyn(2495) younger NM Roman Sapozhnikov(2210) and Canadian girls chess player Yuan Yuanling(2169) with another around 35 players is playing in the 2007 Toronto Thanksgiving Chess Tournament which is one of the GTCL Grand Prix Events. The events has six rounds with two rounds per day. GTCL website will keep the tournament information update.
